According to my notes, your event is scheduled to begin May 4, 2008...
Request Status: A follow up email was sent on April 4th and we are following up with phone calls as I write this to you now. As soon as we confirm event coverage status we will contact you right away.

How much lead time is generally required?
We have the PGA tour coming here to Charlotte in May and also the NASCAR races in May.
May could be too short notice to pull off?

Who should be listed as a contact for a concert? Would it be the record label, agent, venue, or other?

Regarding Nascar - that doesn't count does it? All photos at Nascar events are the property of Nascar -- if I'm wrong, let me know. I have some photos to submit :-)
Next question: golf tournaments too? when i saw "red carpet" I heard red carpet...celebrity type events. Now, I'm thinking more broadly, and I actually might be able to come up with some events.

So far...uhhhhh.....I dunno...
I have had little luck coming up with direct contact info for the appropriate people at NASCAR.
I am on the road this week, but will stop by the track next week(time permitting) to see if I can find someone at the LMS that may be able to point to the correct NASCAR contacts.
I am sure they would be willing to allow additional photography in an effort to promote further growth.
I was too late to make arrangements for the PGA event here in Charlotte - VERY irritating as it is less than 10 minutes from home

vclements - let me know what you find out about Nascar. You probably just need permission from Nascar, now that I think about it. I just recall that on the tickets, it states something like all photos are the property of Nascar. Hopefully, permission would be granted! (I've been to the Charlotte race a couple of times). And, I'm about 90 miles south of Indianapolis so could cover the Indy race if permissible.

NASCAR does not seem to be very forthcoming with media contact information.
I applied at http://www.nascarmedia.com/ yesterday.
Now we wait and see..........

To be credentialed properly, for any event, you should fill out the form located here http://submit.shutterstock.com/redcarpet.pdf and email it to us at presspass@shutterstock.com. Let us apply for your access.
Basically, there are some events that are harder to gain access to than others. So, you will have a better chance at access if you let us apply for you.

Just emailed 3 events - time may be too short as one event is this weekend.
As previously stated "we wont know until we try".
