Question: Are animations created in After Effects or Flash accepted?

Congratulations Jon and the entire team.

Even video is not in my plans and I will not be participating in that project... I know you will exceed your goals as always!!!

A big hug...

Im not sure I like the idea of sharing our site with videographers, this is a stock image site. What does this initiative do for us photographers?Besides cluttering up the site,I just dont see any benefit for us.I think this would be better as another site altogether.Perhaps someone can convince me otherwise?

It will atract people who search videoclips. But This people may need pictures also. They will not by SS subscription. But the per-picture-sales may increase.

Jon, my advice:
When anyone searches video it would be not bad to place on the bottom of search results page the string of pictures (from Stocktogo) to be corresponding this search.

Sory for my bad spelling.

I thought about stock video awhile ago, I just didn't know if it was something that was used. Now I know. Like most have stated, time to spend another grand or two on a video camera.

OK sorry I assumed they were being packaged together because of the changes to my submitters/home page.
Cool concept hope it flies for you.
A few years ago I was shopping for a digicam(for rafting of course)but wasnt really happy with the selection available in my price range. On a whim I decided to go with a digital camera instead, the rest is history :)

How are the pay rates determined??
Can this be footage we have on other sites as well? What about HD footage??
Will you have a separate category for HD?
One suggestion, have a standard for the .avi & .mov files, or it could get real nasty will quick. Every NLE uses it's own codec so you have to be careful what you are offering. I assume you will have the same kind of model release as you do for the still photos?

I uploaded a video by ftp like it said in the tutorial but when I went to the submitted footage page it said there was no video submitted. And it has been an hour now. Did I miss a key step?

thanks for the help,

As an experienced 2D designer in major Detroit video post houses for ten years, there are always needs for both stock photography and video. Obviously video can't do print, but photos can always work within video. Don't freak out -- as a photographer, my experience says you have the advantage. A shot of the Empire State Building with "film" or video would be essentially the same... But the video version couldn't stand up to more than an 8"x10" print. Video is only 72dpi. No more, no less (US standard). More than 2x and you see the interlace of even and odd lines, edges become blurred and aliased, and there's noise like you wouldn't believe.

It think stock footage rocks. I used to use a lot of moving backgrounds before After Effects, Motion, et. al. came out by just shooting abstracts of moving fabrics and lights as a video bed. This will just make the site a better resource for "creatives" out there.

Here's a pretty decent tutorial for anyone who wants to dabble in both worlds. It will explain resolutions and canvas sizes in Photoshop (or other programs)...

http://www.videouniversity.com/photoVid2.html

The good thing about video is that it will just throw out any pixels that it can't use. A BIG difference from trying to eek out extra resolution for larger sizes in the print world.

Way to go Jon & Co. Keep up the brand leadership.
