Perhaps a silly question from a footage newbie:
Is there any software for keywording the videos before you upload to the site?
For example something similar to irfan or Microsoft Photo Tools for batch keywording in photos.
Thanks in advance... |

I use an Access database to keep track of my keywords.
I think Quicktime will embed the keywords in the video, the problem is no one can read them once its uploaded. Like the IPTC data on photos.
Whoever comes up with that will be a millionaire..

Hey, Jake - I'm curious - since the sites can't read the keywords from a database, is there a benefit to keeping such a database? If so, I might do the same. I've designed some rather significant database applications that ride on Access, so I'd be interested in your design, if you care to share. Hey, I think I just discovered a slogan - "care to share." Hmmmmmmm! |

Since I upload to multible sites, I have to keep track of all of my videos and keywords.
Other then that, there isn't much else.

Gotchya. I, too, upload to multiple sites, and I've found a system that works for me. There's one site that has the most efficient uploading and keywording sytem of any stock footage site in existence. Remember, "efficient" means "least time consuming." I upload there first, because I rarely get rejections from that particular site. (Is it any wonder that I make the most money by far on that site???) After the clips have been inspected and released on that site, I use it to copy & paste keywords, descriptions, titles, etc. to the other sites. That site, in effect, becomes my clip database. |

It is possible to use Iview I think Microsoft have taken it over and not sure what they have renamed the product.
Iview works very well for me. I can export the keywords of selected clips into a text file xls file then copy and paste.
The benefit is that you end up with a searchable catalog and you can label clips uploaded, rejected, etc
hope this helps |

Do you mean, that Iview can, for example, read keywrods from IPTC of photo and put it to xls file? |

with adobe bridge you can export your file info (including the keywords) to xml file then you can import the xml file to another footage. |
