As a hobby concert photographer for the past 4 years I LOVE the idea of this program and am looking forward to participating. I am in the process of completing a request but have a question. The instructions read:
* Copies of any forms the event organizers require you to fill out
Where do I find out what is required? I thought all I had to do was find the publicist contact info, and SS took over, or is this something that is requested later in the set up process? |

I'm shooting a Buddy Guy concert on Thursday and the NASCAR Pit Crew Challenge on May 14 thanks to the Red Carpet progam. |

Good luck! How long did it take them to set it up for you? I faxed my requests in on the 23rd and 27th. An acknowledgment of receipt would be nice. Probably not possible, but nice. |

The time frame to setup is really out of SS' hands.
SS will find the contacts, make contact and then wait for decisions from the event people themselves.
Sometimes this can come quickly - other times it's last minute.
Last year, I had a pass approved at somewhere around 11:00pm for an event that started at 9:00am the next day.
So..it all varies.
It's fun - like being a kid again waiting for Christmas!
As far as making a Red Carpet request, you would do better to send an email to:
ontheredcarpet@shutterstock.com
or use the online form at http://submit.shutterstock.com/red_carpet.mhtml
Aisia has been very quick about sending emails to confirm the request was rec'd, it's probably a little slower with a fax. |

Yeah I have submitted several requests by way of email and have not been approved for any yet and have been denied for 1 but have always had a fast response as far as emails go. |

I am a Caribbean Photographer and was wondering if there is a pass that can be used continuously. For example there are many significant events that involve political leaders and high level individuals but not many stock photographers are present. Just a thought |

Got my approval and everything so far has been great. I would like to thank Aisia for going through the trouble of getting myself a pass for the events I have applied for, couldn't be any better.

I would like to get into doing this as there are several concerts upcoming here in town and other events as well.
I'm confused about what to put in the box that says:
What can we do to help you get the press pass (please be specific — ask them what you need!):
Not sure what to put in there.
Thanks :)

First, please don't turn this into a "pimping" thread, use the "anything goes" forum for that.
Concert photography is very restricted. Each performer will have different requirements, as well as each venue will have specific requirements.
Ask for all details:
some have a restriction that photographer's can only shoot the first three songs
Some, if not all, have a restriction about NO flash photography
Some may give access to the stage for photographers, but only up to a line so the audience can not see the photographer
If there are 5 performers, each with different management firms and restrictions, you will need approval for EACH performer
And the list goes on and on.
Ask for as many specifics as possible. |

I applied for 2 about a month ago and still have not heard either way. I'm getting antsy as one is coming up the first weekend in June. The other one is for the end of June. Depending upon how these go I will see about future ones. |
