Just tried a search for my common frog-hopper, using the Latin name.. it doesn't come up at all and only 2 photos came up.

But if I search using the word hopper.. it comes up with all the hopping insects like grasshopper and crickets etc.

Very strange.

If you type in moth, (and exclude butterflies and caterpillars) you get lots and lots of flowers, ladybugs, and I found some bowls of dried beans in there too.

The improved Most Popular has just been pushed live. You should see a banner announcement on your search results pages.

I see it now. This will be interesting.

I see that one of my favorites was bumped up to number two for the term "lightening". That's cool!

Could you expand on these 'other factors' please.

Yes, please - we all know that there will be a hundredity-leven posts about how "most popular" works, so if you could break it down for us at least somewhat, that would be great!

I also think the 7 day free trail is a good idea. I wonder if I could sign up myself to get back some old files I lost in various computer crashes....hmmmmm

Here's My biggest #1 gripe and always has been. I typed In Glamour and did a search. somewhere around PG 5/6 "Newist First" theres a ton Of Abstract Fractals, Illustrated Picture frames. This is what is killing it for me and I'll never understand How a reviewer or submitter can get away with this Spamming Of keywords. it buries the "Glamour" Images even faster. This crap HAS GOT TO STOP!!!!!!!!And it's this way in every category. Until they "Really" stop this. I think it wont matter how they change anything.

Reviewers!! heads Up. Stop Pixel Peeping and spend time on keywords. Kick it back to have it resummited. I do everyday.

I think this Is Job#1

I agree with you 100% on this Lauren, Why not run an initiative where images with bad keywords can be reported and the offender suffer with the image being removed AND a cap on the amount of uploads they can do?

I also agree about the raise.......Where is it???

What I made out so far is that now our images can have different popularity depending on which of their keywords are you saerching for. I saw images that have many common keyword with mine. Searching for one keyword my image is before them, searching for another common keyword mine is behind them. Strange.

you sorted on "newest first" which has little to do with the new 'most popular' ranking ;)
Talking about bad keywording..;( I totally agree with Laurin: have them checked by the reviewers and changing them would make you resubmit....everyone would benefit from this, buyers in the first place. Maybe this can be the next thing on the to-do list?

I think it's great efforts are made to optimize the search results though, as this is the only agency i have to time uploads to avoid having them approved on a friday or saturday and completely burried by monday...
Way to go SS, looking forward to seeing what this will do with sales and hoping this will fix at least part of the problem :)

About new search:

I must agree with others that there appears to be many spammed images. For example I typed 'sea wave boat' and got underwater images, island photos and similar...
After adding vector word, I got some Logo of lighthouse, fisherman, anchor and so on...

So, TO-DO is Keywording next!

About Trial:

It is rare example of how running business should look like. If this is some other agency all expences for this would be payed by contributing artists. I am happy that I am no longer member in that specific agency.
