No charity here, it is a business, if your images sell it is because somebody likes and needs them. SY

The premise of this post is totally nonsensical. Why would a buyer who, for example, is looking for a picture of a smiling man in a suit, instead download a picture of a moose standing on a barn ONLY to "help the new photographer"? The answer is simple. He/she wouldn't. He/she's going to find the man in a suit, download it and move on.

Don't know if you noticed, but dgool's gallery is gone. He was busted by paulprescott for having images not his own in his gallery. I think the shot that tipped off paul was a Microsoft XP background.

The thread is here:

Yeah, I followed that whole discussion. The XP background shot was a bit, shall we say, brazen?

You know we've had several others doing the same thing and I've always wondered why they come to the forum and direct attention to their port? Makes no sense to me.

As most cops will tell you, most criminals (and what dgool, and others of his ilk, did was a criminal act in my opinion) are not very smart, lol.

i think i lot of buyers would have trouble explaining your proposition to their bosses...

"yes, i know it's for a network solutions company; and this image of a strawberry on a kiwi fruit striking a deal on a road to nowhere is slightly inappropriate - but i felt sorry for the poor guy. he's only had 1 download this month. Ultimately i felt his feelings were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more important than making our clients happy."

I'm new here, waiting for my ID to be approved before I can begin uploading images.

I want to sell a lot of images - there seems little point in being here if not to make a buck or two. However, I also want people to buy my images because they're good, not because they're trying to do me a favour.

Begging and pleading for sales - it's undignified at best. If you want to sell a photo, take a good one.
