Recently I had a boring shot of a white limo door rejected and I agree with the reviewer it was a boring snapshot but I think it would sell. There is a demand for these for weddings etc. I couldn't put an interesting shot of the full car for obvious reasons. I saw it being used in a wedding brochure by a designer.
My point is this I am trying to put on pictures that sell and that I feel that should be the main reason for rejection.
At times I just don't know if it will sell or not and I would like to see some system that at least gives them a chance. Almost like a dump bin in a shop. I am sure it is very difficult at times for the reviewer to decide without a crystal ball wether it will sell or not. If we had some system of putting the doubtful files on in a provisional way call it "waiting for review" then after say six weeks deleteing them automatically, this might make it a bit easier for both submitter and reviewer. And at least the limo pic would have got a chance. |

I did a custom stock assignment for exactly that purpose, Pete, a couple of years ago - what they wanted was an upmarket car door, open, with an attractive female leg in dress shoes, stepping out onto a wet street reflecting the glowing colours of neon lights - the idea was to give a 'step out in style' feeling to the image... the concentration was to be on the door, the model was secondary, and they didn't need a head shot - but if we could incorporate some evening dress, all the better... the shoot was for a limousine company that could not find what they were after... the end shot involved a lot of dummying up, but that was the kind of thing that would stand out as not being a 'boring snapshot' but a saleable stock image - you don't need to go as far as the wet neon reflections, but including a bit of a wedding dress or evening dress, or feet... even a hand opening the limo door - that makes the shot stand out...
It's the old story, there are an ever increasing amount of people who can take an image... make yours better than theirs, and it'll be more likely to be approved...
Cheers,

Holy Sh$%$%$^%^T! A stock site admits it makes mistake publicly AND corrects them. Wow, I'm not used to this. Kudos!
I'm so glad reviewers here are accepted as people and not gods to be groveled over. I'll say it again: KUDOS!!!!111!!!!!
I hope there is an establish procedure for dealing with rejections like this that seems out-of-place in the future. I'd hate for situations like this to always have to be aired in the forums. |

If you can post it here and prove us wrong - then of course.
Photography is very subjective - that isn't going to change. Our reviewers are only human. |

Man SS rocks :)
You'll never be on another site and the reviewers accept a mistake, I had a similar situation with ISP and after I corrected the photo they rejected it another time for a different reason! |
