Buna Dimineata (Good morning),
Ma bucur ca a fost o idee buna ( Glad it was a good idea).
On short in english for the admins: Received a PM from mateimiruna but was banned and found an article on the apostile so it seems we received it from the court house or the subdivision of the cityhall.

Can anyone confirm that we really need our passport copy the apostiled way? Where is it written, I didn't see it at IRS website I think it's just not necessary, but prove me wrong if you have seen such instructions that require it. |

O copie legalizata e acum in jur de 6ron/pagina, si trimiterea scrisorii in america era cam 8 ron acum doi ani.
A legalized copy is about 6 ron and mailing a letter to the us was about 8. The apostille is a bit more I think. |

I think I'll wait some more and really decide what to do. I'm soon to get to the 0.36 payment level and if I do the papers I'll get from 0.33 to... 0.324 because they'll take 10%. So much for a raise.
I'm not in a hurry, even if it'll pass a month withholding 30%.
See this too, its still waiting a final response from the admin: http://submit.shutterstock.com/forum/abt62397.html
Apparently the tax should be applied only for US-based customers. So if your images are bought by people in another country, well then... we're still waiting for an answer. |

Check the list on page 2 if you don't have a passport you can still show 2 or more other documents. |

I think you're right, especially that IRS is not asking for an apostiled version as far as I know. |

copy / paste from w-7:
"Have the copies notarized by a foreign notary. However, foreign
notaries are only acceptable as outlined by the Hague Convention.
The Hague Convention provides for the simplified certification of
public (including notarized) documents to be used in countries that
have joined the Convention. A certification will be issued in the form
of an "apostille," which will be attached to the copy of the
document. If the document originates in a country that is not party to
the Convention, applicants should have the document certified by
the foreign authority that issued it." |

That can't be good. The apostille would go about 30RON. meaning the whole set of documents would be something around 50 ron. A bit much for me, a student. More so considering the papers might get lost in the mail or I might get declined. |

and where we can notarize the passport with that apostile ?
so we wait... right? at least for the us or non-us sales thing figured it out. |

Iata cum se poate obtine ITIN:
1. Realizati o copie legalizata a pasaportului la orice notariat.
4. Descarcati formularul W7 http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw7.pdf
5. Completati-l cu mare grija astfel:
* La Reason you are submitting alegeti a si h .
* Deasupra punctelor de la h scrieti fara ghilimele: "Exception 1d - Third party witholding tax on passive income royalties (royalties on photographic sales)"
* Sub h, la Additional information for a and f: Enter treaty country>Romania iar la and treaty article number>12(2)
* Completati numele, adresa postala(la aceasta adresa vi se vor returna documentele originale si notificarea scrisa ITIN), data nasterii
* Persoanele care si-au schimbat numele, trebuie sa completeze la 1b, numele din certificatul de nastere.
* La 6a treceti ROMANIA
* La 6b, 6c, 6f si 6g scrieti N/A. Atentie!!! Sa nu scrieti NA in loc de N/A. Se anuleaza formularul.
* La 6d bifati documentele pe care le trimiteti o data cu formularul.
* In caseta de semnatura Sign Here: semnati, treceti data si un numar de telefon
Dupa obtinerea ITIN, ultimul pas este completarea formularului W-8BEN, Certificate of Foreign Status of Beneficial Owner for United States Tax Withholding.
Note for admins: above are instructions in Romanian language on how to apply for ITIN.
Doamne ajuta!
Cu sinceritate,
Regele IONESCU |
