Yeah, I live in New Hampshire where "tax" is still a dirty word. We have no personal state income tax and no state sales tax. And we want to keep it that way. There have been candidates for state offices over the years who have made the mistake of hinting at the possibility of a suggestion that they may consider a sales or income tax, and that killed their campaign on the spot.
We do pay local property tax. We have meal and hotel taxes. And of course business taxes. So we aren't "tax-free", but we've managed to keep it under control.
