When is the 30 percent cut taking place?
Is it from July?
Cheers! |

yeah, they just posted a nice update saying hold. Don't worry, they won't start taking money yet... I think they are still exploring ways to help us avoid it... and that's time well spent : )

The update says they will not start taxing until SS as finalised what is required. Also they will not withhold taxes from treaty country residents as long as they have started the process after SS as determined what that is.

what if my attempt to get an ITIN will take a very long time? I know some people who received ITIN after a couple of months of waiting. |

i think there's no need to worry - if you are from a treaty country - because ss said (17th june)
" We will take into account the time it takes to get the appropriate paperwork completed, and not start withholding (if/when applicable) until then " |

i think you need to wait for the next payout, im not sure if they give it early - but it seems as if they're not withholding June's payout. So you can safely get your next payout i think... ?
omg i relate way better to a muppet than a tiny guy pulling a hamster in a box... im so happy you changed your pic mreco. |

mreco,
If you indeed live in the UK, there is a 0% withholding. If you submit the IRS requirements, we will not withhold at all. If you have not taken any action as of yet, that is fine. You will have the opportunity to do so and we will not withhold.
As to your other question, the answer is no - we do not alter the payout schedule.
Thanks,
-jm

So am i to understand that we (as treaty country submitters) will not have the 30% witheld if we have submitted details to IRS. And that we are waiting for SS to update us on the IRS forms to submit befre we can do this? |
