I am little concerned that some or many of images may have some unwanted noise. I have a Nikon D50 and the 18-55mm kit lens and a 70-300mm Quantaray telephoto lens w/macro. I am pretty sure it's time for me to have my camera cleaned since I have at least 40,000 shots on it and swap between the two lenses just about every day. Here is an expample of a shot with some noise. Would this be too much? This is actually a bad example as it's excessive. Thanks in advance.

Not really noise but way too much pixelation. Looks oversharpened

I've only just gotten into using photoshop so I have a long way to go. The sharpen filter doesn't always help I've noticed. Thanks for your honesty.

hi david,

sharpening in photoshop isn't that difficult if you know the basics. just look into the tutorials-topic. there must be several links to tutorials which may help you to get along with this problem.

WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY oversharpened!! The oversharpening has caused sharpening artifacts (the little white spots you see in the grass and on the road). I suspect the original is WAY out of focus. Can you post the original before you did anything to it on Photoshop?

Also, and I realize you didn't ask, but there are several other issues with this image: Blown out highlights (white or bright areas where no detail can be seen), shadows are too dark, not the greatest composition, etc. Here is a VERY quick re-do of the image (and I'm sure there are other Photoshop wizards that could do a better job than I've done) as I would have done it.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I've been practicing shooting manual but using auto focus. This was kind of rushed cause I was trying not to miss the moment while driving slow. Here's the original untouched image below.
