OK, so my 10 year old bogen legs are giving way. They're old, beaten up, and one of the legs even falls off!

So, any suggestions on a still tripod and head for around $350?

http://www.google.com/products?q=velbon+carmagne+630&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title . I have this tripod for about 2 years, and I"m really happy with it. Stood up pretty well (though I'm quite careful with my gear and try not to abuse it too much).

That looks nice. I've only ever used Bogen, but that said, the one I'm using for still has a leg that comes off! Anyone else use this brand?

Just ordered from Amazon. Was $285. Thanks for the tip!

Stas, see my reply in another tripod thread. I have benro carbon-fiber, never had a problem with it. Apparently they have re-branded themselves now as Induro. Don't know about the prices though. I bought mine about 2 years ago for $200 or so.

Sergei, when I need another tripod, I'll take a long hard look at Induro/Benro. I've read only good things about them, absolutely in line with what you're writing. And the price does seem very nice.

I've chickened out at the time when I was doing MY tripod selection, since they didn't have any US presence and I had to buy directly from China. Now B&H carries them, IIRC.

Cheers,
Stas.

Do you know if that Velbon has a quick release? I ordered it from Amazon which states that it has a quick release but I just unpacked it and can't really figure it out. The whole plate stays on the head.

It doesn't have a QR. I bought Arca swiss one from Kirk.
