Ok, you newbies have what you need now. Compatible with Photoshop only.
This script will generate the crop and the resized versions for you to post your photos properly.
0) Download this file http://flashbackfoto.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/CROP-FORUM.zip
1) Unzip and save the script anywhere in your computer.
2) Open your photo on Photoshop.
3) Click File, Scripts, Browse.
4) Locate and double click the script.
5) Watch it do the job for you.

I just tried this in CS2 on a Mac, and it worked perfectly. That is too cool!

WOW, I just tried it, this is good. So no more confusion and we will always have the right 100% crop and resized version. Now I hope all the new members will use it.

Glad you liked. Newbies will probably not find this thread themselves, but then someone can point it.
You can also make the script always available on your Photoshop and even assign a shortcut key to it.

Sweet, works on CS3 and a PC...
This definitely needs to be a sticky at the top of the forum in big bold, 48 sized print..

Newbies will not find this thread if it is not a sticky (even being a sticky they may not read it). Hence Barry will probably need to point them to this thread. At least the script will do the job the right way for them, avoiding the common mistakes...
Your laptop is Apple, right? I just want to make sure it works both on PC and Mac, since I developed it using Javascript for full compatibility.

My laptop was Windows XP based. New one is Windows 7 based. Tried in on this laptop, and could not get it to run, said something about line 2 not having the right data?
Will try it on my iMac later today when I get back to my other home , sorry I missed this earlier :-)

Marcus, OK, I don't know why now I cannot get it to run on either my Windows 7 Laptop or my iMAC, getting the same kind of error referring to line 2

Hi Jeff! This line refers to where the script automatically gets the current active document which should be already opened for editing in Photoshop. If you don't have an opened document when you load the script, then you will get this error.
I suppose you did not followed the instructions as in the first post of this thread. To avoid the same problem with other users, I've updated the script so it checks if there is an active document when you load it. Just download it again from the first post and follow the instructions on the first post.
