How much will I earn per download?

The amount you earn for each download is determined by the plan and license purchased, as well as your Earnings Level at the time

Updated over 7 months ago

Generally, three main factors determine the amount you earn from each download. Earnings per download vary based on:

  • Type of plan used by the customer. The most common plans offered on our eCommerce site are annual subscriptions, no-commitment monthly subscriptions, and on-demand packs in a variety of sizes. View our customer image and video plan options.

  • Type of license purchased: Standard vs. Enhanced. View our license comparison pages for images and videos for details.

  • Your earnings level at the time of download. Learn more about levels.

Your total downloads and earnings produced from licensed downloads and referrals are displayed at the top of the Earnings summary page. You can view your earnings organized by month or by product type (this is the type of plan used by the customer). Your overall daily downloads will show up here within an hour after the license is purchased by a customer.

By date

Each month displays a row for each day that has produced earnings, with the daily totals in each column. Click on a particular date to view that day’s earnings broken down by product, plan and license type.

By product

This tab allows you to analyze the earnings each one of your assets has produced since it was added to your portfolio. Earnings from every asset are grouped by the type of plan that was used for the download.

  • Subscriptions: Images licensed via one of our monthly or annual subscription plans.

  • On demand: Images licensed using one of our on demand packs.

  • Enhanced: Images downloaded with the purchase of an Enhanced license pack.

  • Single & other: Single image downloads made via our mobile app and most other custom products not offered for self-service on our eCommerce platform. These include API deals and partnerships, Enterprise plans, and other custom plans put together by our Sales Team. Keep in mind that any earnings produced from our API deals and partnerships are an additional revenue stream. They come from customers that are acquired outside of our regular eCommerce platform.

  • Cart sales: Video clips purchased a la carte and clips licensed via one of our video subscription plans.

  • Clip packs: Videos licensed using one of our on demand packs.

  • Enhanced video: Videos purchased with the Enhanced video license.

On a rare occasion, a custom plan may fall into the subscription category, and in that case, earnings from these downloads will show up in those respective options. However, the amounts may look different from what you are used to seeing generated from the standard eCommerce plans.

If you see an Adjustments tab on your Earnings Summary page, then some corrections had to be made to your earnings due to a refund related to fraudulent charges. Information on adjustments only displays if your earnings have been subject to a correction.

Earnings Levels and Price per Asset

Another factor that determines the amount you earn from a single download is your Earnings Level for that content type at the time the download occurred. You can learn more about the Levels structure here.

Each contributor earns a percentage of the price the customer pays for the particular asset. The price the customer pays for each download varies based on the plan, which accounts for the license type, the number of downloads that are included, and whether the asset is used by an individual or a team.
