Als je inhoud is afgewezen vanwege 'Potentieel ongepaste afbeelding van iemands ras, etniciteit, geslacht, seksuele geaardheid, handicap, religie of leeftijd', heeft dit hoogstwaarschijnlijk te maken met een van de volgende zaken:
Het onderwerp, de titel of de trefwoorden van de inhoud verbeelden/beschrijven het ras, de etniciteit, het geslacht, de seksuele geaardheid, de handicap, de religie of de leeftijd van een persoon op een onnauwkeurige manier of op een manier die kan worden geïnterpreteerd als beledigend, denigrerend of bevorderlijk voor een schadelijk stereotype.
De inhoud, titel en/of trefwoorden bevatten verouderde terminologie die in de loop van de tijd aanstootgevend is geworden of niet langer als gepast wordt beschouwd.
Er is geen People-first language (PFL) gebruikt om een persoon met een handicap te beschrijven (er zijn bijvoorbeeld termen als 'diabeticus' of 'epilepticus' gebruikt).
PFL is de stijl waaraan Shutterstock de voorkeur geeft. Als deze stijl niet wordt gebruikt in een inzending, bestaat het risico dat de inzending wordt afgewezen vanwege Aanstootgevende metadata of Ongepaste voorstelling. Wat een geschikte PFL is, is per geval verschillend.

Doe onderzoek om ervoor te zorgen dat je actuele en inclusieve taal gebruikt. Online bronnen en stijlgidsen, zoals degene die worden vermeld in het gedeelte 'Wij raden het volgende aan' van het artikel Richtlijnen voor het indienen van inhoud met betrekking tot diversiteit en inclusiviteit, kunnen helpen bij het opstellen van gepaste titels en zijn handig voor het vinden van relevante termen voor trefwoorden.
Als je naar iemands ras of etniciteit verwijst, gebruik dan bijvoeglijke naamwoorden en geen zelfstandige naamwoorden, zoals 'een Latijns-Amerikaans persoon' (bijvoeglijke naamwoord) in plaats van 'een Latijns-Amerikaan' (zelfstandige naamwoord).
Raad niet naar het ras, de etniciteit, de religie, de leeftijd, de seksuele geaardheid of het geslacht van een model. Idealiter geeft het model deze informatie zelf tijdens de fotoshoot, zodat je titels en trefwoorden kunt gebruiken die de manier waarop het model zichzelf identificeert, nauwkeurig weerspiegelen. Als het model deze informatie niet uit zichzelf geeft, kun je het model er op een respectvolle manier om vragen. Zorg ervoor dat je uitdrukkelijke toestemming van het model hebt om deze informatie aan de afbeelding/clip toe te voegen. Maak geen aannames over de identiteit van een persoon en identificeer een persoon niet op een verkeerde manier.
Gebruik je gezonde verstand als je concepten maakt die gevoelige onderwerpen uitleggen of belichten, zoals discriminatie en racisme. Ga altijd voorzichtig te werk als je individuen afbeeldt of beschrijft op manieren die als haatdragend of aanstootgevend kunnen worden ervaren.
Als je mensen met handicaps beschrijft, dien je gebruik te maken van People-first language. Gebruik bijvoorbeeld niet 'een kreupele', 'een stomme' of 'een epilepticus', maar in plaats daarvan 'een persoon met een handicap', 'een persoon met een communicatiestoornis' of 'een persoon met epilepsie'.
