If your image was rejected with “Content must be designated as an illustration. Please resubmit and ensure the “Illustration” button is selected before submitting,” it is probably due to one of the following reasons:
Content is an art reproduction scan/photo of an analog painting, mural, graffiti, drawing, sketch, or other form of 2D analog art
Scans of artwork such as paintings, watercolours, oil paintings, etc.
Scans of illustrations, sketches, cartoons, or comics
Photos of artwork including paintings, drawings, or sketches that fill most of or the entire frame
Content is a digitally produced illustration
Illustrations that were created using digital art software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
Image is a 3D Rendering
3D renderings of interiors and exteriors
3D mock-ups
3D renderings of the built environment and urban development
3D renderings of landscape architecture and garden designs
3D renderings of statues, landmarks, or people
Image contains a 3D rendered element
Image is a photograph filtered to look like an illustration
Filters added to photographs giving them the appearance of an illustration
Heavily filtered photographs which no longer look like photograph
Composites
The image is a composite of illustrations and/or digitally created artwork
Image is a composite of manipulated photos and illustrations

Be sure to select Illustration as the image type.
Even if a composite or collage contains photographic elements, submit the content as an illustration if a large part of the design is illustrations or digitally created media.
Scans or art reproduction photographs of paintings, sketches, and drawings should be submitted as illustrations.
Do not include “vector” in the keywords if the illustration is not a vector EPS file.
All 3D renderings should be tagged as illustrations.
