Why was my content rejected for Translation Required?

An English translation is required. Add small amounts to the title field. Large amounts of non-English text are not allowed in content.

If your content was rejected with "An English translation is required for non-English text that appears in content. For small amounts of text, please provide translations in the title field. Large amounts of text are not allowed in content." it is most likely because of the following issue:

  • Your content contains a small amount of non-English text and no translation was provided in the Title field.

For example, if the image below were submitted for commercial use with the title “Feliz cumple años on a white background," it would be rejected for Translation Required because the title does not include an English translation for the Spanish text depicted in the content.

An acceptable title for this image would be “Feliz cumple años on a white background. ‘Happy Birthday’ in Spanish.”

Here are some examples of images with acceptable translations in the title field:

Title: Christmas Flat Lay, Letters With Danke Means Thank You

Title: Russian police street phone. Translation: "Police. Press the button and wait for an answer.

The images below are not acceptable for commercial use because they contain large amounts of non-English text. However, they would be acceptable if submitted as editorial:

We recommend:

  • Make sure you provide an accurate translation of any non-English text that appears in your content. Translations should be added to the content’s title. If you are unable to provide a translation, try removing the text in post-production.

  • If your content contains large amounts of non-English text, it won’t be acceptable for commercial use and will be rejected for Intellectual Property. Non-English text appearing in editorial content is generally acceptable.

If you don’t understand the reason for the rejection of your content or if you need additional clarification, you can always contact contributor support.
