Content Quality Standards: Distracting Elements

Unintentional presence of dust or other distracting elements in the frame is not accepted.

Updated over 7 months ago

If your content was rejected with “Content does not meet our minimum quality standards,” it may be because of one of the following issues:

  • Content contains visible dust, dirt, or scratches on the lens or sensor spots can be seen.

  • Content was shot through dirty glass (e.g., a video shot through a dirty bus window).

  • Moisture on the lens is prominent and obstructs the subject matter.

  • A reflection is distracting or depicts unwanted elements.

We Recommend

  • Make sure your camera lens is clean and dust-free before shooting.

  • Ensure that any glass you are shooting through is smudge-free.

  • Avoid changing lenses in areas where there is a lot of dust or debris (e.g., on the beach, on a gravel path, in windy conditions).

  • Use a dust blower to clean your lens prior to attaching it to the camera.

  • Always put on your lens cap when the lens is not in use.

  • Use the self-cleaning sensor feature on the camera every time you shoot (if it has one).

  • If your camera’s sensor is very dirty, have it professionally cleaned.

  • Remove all sensor spots or lens dust in post-production before submitting your content.

  • Wipe moisture off your lens away in between shoots when shooting in the rain or in a wet environment.

  • Verify that the photographer/videographer and equipment cannot be seen in a reflection.
