Corrections Needed
When submitting content for the first time, please ensure it meets all Shutterstock Content Publishing Standards and Guidelines before submitting it for review. If you attempt to resubmit content that has been previously rejected, it will generally be rejected again for Previously Rejected. However, there are certain instances where resubmission of rejected content is allowed via the "Correction needed" feature.
You can quickly edit and resubmit assets that were rejected due to:
Metadata - Commercial Requirements
Metadata - Editorial Requirements
Translation Required
Missing or incorrect model/property releases
Unnecessary Release
You may receive additional information on why your model or property release was not accepted. For example:
Full name of the model is missing
Corrupted Release File
Adult form used for a minor
Missing Signature of model/parent or guardian/property owner
Mailing address or email address is missing
Unacceptable alterations
Correction Steps
Rejected content that requires correction will be visible under the Correction Needed menu and flagged with a yellow caution icon.
Each rejection includes an explanation listed beside the image, along with links to support pages for additional guidance.
Click on the button Make Changes and a red error message will appear in the right side menu with a description on the necessary changes.
Once all required revisions are made, you may resubmit the file for review.
Please note that a second rejection is final, and the asset will no longer be eligible for submission.
Approved Content
If you wish to replace an image/video in your portfolio with a new version, you must first delete the image/video from your portfolio before submitting the new version. Please note that:
The new image/video will be reviewed against Shutterstock’s current content publishing and quality standards. Resubmitting deleted content does not guarantee approval.
Because approved content cannot be overwritten with a new version, the download history and search ranking associated with the original image/video will not transfer to the new version of your work.
If you attempt to submit content that is published in your portfolio, the content will be rejected for Approved on Site.
Suspended Content
Resubmitting suspended content is prohibited. If you attempt to resubmit content that a Shutterstock representative suspended, the content will be rejected for Suspended Submission.
Additionally, if a Shutterstock representative has instructed you to remove content from your portfolio, you cannot resubmit that content.
Identical Submissions
If you receive an Identical Submission rejection, it is because you have already submitted the image/video to Shutterstock and it is pending review.
If you have any questions or need additional clarification, you can always contact contributor support.
