How do customers find my work on Shutterstock?

Shutterstock provides a variety of search filters to help customers narrow down results.

Artists can ensure their work is easy to find by using accurate titles and keywords.

Shutterstock provides customers with a variety of search and discovery options, as well as analytic tools to help find the right creative content for their needs within our vast collection of images, videos and music assets. As a contributing artist, you can also take a number of steps to ensure that your work is easily discovered.

Accurate metadata

Accurate and descriptive titles and keywords give your work the best chance of being discovered when a customer performs a keyword search on shutterstock.com. Check out this article for some tips and guidelines for creating effective descriptions and keywords. Once a customer lands on an asset that interests them, they can easily discover similar images from the same artist grouped just below the preview in a section called “More from this artist.” This section features additional images from the same artist that share similar keywords.

Collections

Collections of images or videos enable you to organize, edit, and showcase your portfolio on the customer site, as well as track your earnings from these collections within your account. If you create a collection of images or clips that share the same theme as what the customer is looking for, they’ll be able to easily explore your content collections if they navigate to your portfolio. Add model data

Model release content is always in high demand. Adding information about the model’s ethnicity, age, and gender during content submission will help customers looking for images with that criteria discover your work. This information should be entered at the time of upload, but can also be added after upload on the “Manage releases” page.
